🇱🇰 The Complete Pekoe Trail
About This Experience
The Pekoe Trail is Sri Lanka’s answer to the world’s great long-distance walking routes — roughly 300km through the central highlands, split into 22 official stages. This package covers the entire trail end to end, for travelers who want the complete experience rather than a single sampler section.
The route begins in the hills around Kandy and moves steadily upward into tea country proper — Nuwara Eliya, Haputale, and Ella — passing working tea estates, waterfalls, colonial-era plantation architecture, and highland villages that most visitors to Sri Lanka never see. Each day covers one official stage, so the walking is steady but never rushed, with time built in to actually experience each stop rather than just pass through it.
Past Ella, the trail continues into the trail’s less-visited southern stages, descending gradually toward Deniyaya and the edge of the Sinharaja rainforest — a genuinely different landscape from where you started three weeks earlier. Accommodation each night is arranged in local guesthouses, tea bungalows, or trailside lodging depending on the stage.
This is a serious undertaking — three weeks of consecutive walking days — but it’s also the single best way to understand how Sri Lanka’s hill country actually fits together, stage by stage, village by village.
Activities:
- All 22 official stages of the Pekoe Trail
- Tea estate walks (Nuwara Eliya, Haputale)

Serious long-distance hikers, slow travelers, and anyone wanting to genuinely walk across Sri Lanka’s hill country rather than drive through it.
